Performance and funding scholarships
Are you studying for a Bachelor's, Master's or doctorate at the URBI Faculty and have achieved outstanding academic results in the past academic year? Or are you currently writing your thesis and need to travel or have special expenses? Then our performance and/or funding scholarships are the right thing for you.
Merit Scholarship
Merit scholarships are awarded annually after the end of the academic year. Applications are submitted via the "Merit Scholarship" app, which is activated in UNIGRAZonline during the application period. A merit scholarship can only be awarded to a student for one course of study per year, but students can apply for it every year and, depending on the criteria, can also be awarded it repeatedly.
Application deadline for the academic year 2023/24
You can apply for a merit scholarship via UNIGRAZonline from 23.09. to 31.10.2024.
Criteria
The call for applications for merit scholarships is published each year in the university newsletter. Please note the respective faculty-specific criteria! For the awarding of a merit scholarship at the URBI Faculty, the general requirements listed in the bulletin and the special conditions for students of the URBI Faculty apply without exception. In addition to this:
- proof of at least 60 positively completed ECTS credits in a degree programme in the 2023/24 academic year. At least 50 ECTS must be graded positively (very good to sufficient), 10 ECTS can be graded as ‘successfully completed’.
- a (weighted) grade point average of no more than 2.0 for the achievements used for assessment according to the curriculum (of the best 50 positively completed and graded ECTS credits).

Funding scholarship
This is a one-off scholarship of between € 750 and € 3,600. Funds can be applied for to cover various expenses (stay abroad, congress fees, extensive literature search, etc.). However, these costs must be stated in one application; multiple applications for a thesis are not possible. However, it is of course possible to apply for a scholarship for the Master's thesis and one for the dissertation.
