"Buen Vivir and University in Colombia. A transdisciplinary practical report from 8 years of living in Latin America."

"Buen Vivir" is the concept of "Good Life" originating from Latin America, which is not about getting the most out for oneself individually, but at the center of Buen Vivir are balance with nature, reduction of social inequality, social participation of all and also a new way of doing business. Buen Vivir is thus quite contrary to development and sustainability thinking based on Western values and approaches. An essential element of Buen Vivir is the philosophy of life of the indigenous peoples of South America. The concept was popularized by Alberto Acosta and is even part of the constitution in some South American countries.
Raphael Ferbas has lived in Colombia for eight years, researching and teaching at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the Universidad Externado de Colombia, Bogotá. He is co-founder of the Transdisciplinary Master's Program "Sustainable Living Systems". Further, he has experienced and lived "Buen Vivir" biographically - in the village of Pijao in the coffee zone of Colombia and with the indigenous Muisca people in Oriente (Cundinamarca, Colombia).
In the lecture he will present basics of Buen Vivir as well as biographical and above all practical insights.
The lecture will be held in German.
